Dr Craig Lockwood, RN, BN, GradDip, MNSc, PhD is Associate Professor Implementation Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, The University of Adelaide; and Adjunct Associate Professor, Queen's School of Nursing, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is postgraduate coordinator for higher degrees by research, and has core role in the Joanna Briggs Institute as Director of Implementation Science. Dr Lockwood is responsible for the Institutes dissemination strategies and specialist content for web based platforms, tools and resources for implementing evidence in to practice at the point of care for the health professions. These are currently utilised by over 9000 health services around the world to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to policy and practice.
Craig is the JBI program director for implementation science, postgraduate coordinator for research degrees, Chair of the JBI Qualitative Synthesis Methods Group, adjunct associate professor at Queens University, Chair of the Guidelines International Network Implementation Working Group, the lead of the Cochrane Nursing Care Field, and a member of the Cochrane Fields executive group and Cochrane KT working group. Craig’s main interests are evidence implementation and qualitative synthesis, from a theoretical and pragmatic perspective. He is responsible for maintaining the premier online portal JBI-COnNECT+ (which has been fully commercialised and is sold internationally) for dissemination and implementation of best practice.
He has delivered invited presentations, key note addresses and funded workshops in the last 5 years on translation and dissemination of evidence, and continues to engage with the health professions through webinars. As Director of the Cochrane Nursing Care Field he has a specific focus on the dissemination and awareness raising in relation to Cochrane review findings for health care practice. He is a peer reviewer for numerous international journals, and is an Editorial Advisor for the Journal of Nursing and Health Science.
My program of research encompasses three core domains: Qualitative Systematic Reviews, Implementation Science in healthcare policy and practice and Models of Healthcare/Health Service Delivery. PhD ready applicants only.
Systematic Reviews:
Qualitative synthesis is my core program of investigation, and includes philosophy, methodology and methods for synthesis of qualitative data. While open to new projects in this field, I have existing work on all aspects of qualitative synthesis using meta-aggregation, including protocol development, searching, critical appraisal, data extraction and synthesis, evaluation of confidence in qualitative findings, and reporting standards.
Implementation Science:
Methodology, method and frameworks for implementation and implementation science, including the study of:
behaviour change models and mechanisms,
barriers, facilitators and implementation strategies
Context analysis, Facilitation of Change and Evaluation of process and outcome in Implementation Science
Models of Nursing and Healthcare/Health Service Delivery:
To establish evidence-based models and frameworks for delivery of healthcare and health services, particularly nurse-led services across specialties and sectors.
