Oliver Fartach-Naini is a classical guitarist, international collaborator, editor and educator from Germany. Building on his comprehensive studies in musicology, pedagogy and music performance Berlin and Leipzig, Oliver Fartach-Naini’s research interests have led to collaborative projects ranging from Persian art music to Franz Schubert, culminating in concert performances across Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA. His PhD titled Ethnoclassicism in Guitar Chamber Music is a reflection of his stylistically very diverse portfolio of projects. Further research outputs include well over one hundred world premiere performances of works, which composers such as Carlo Domeniconi (Italy), Richard Charlton (Australia), Ludger Vollmer (Germany), Geonyong Lee (South Korea), Jaime Zenamon (Brazil) and Máximo Diego Pujol (Argentina) have written for him and his ensembles. To date Oliver Fartach-Naini has recorded eleven commercial CDs for Deutsche Grammophon, Kreuzberg Records, Acoustic Music Records, Credia Classics and Ethnoclassics.For the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) Oliver Fartach-Naini published 7 graded repertoire books and curated a 1000-work repertoire list in 2011. In Australia this is today’s most commonly used resource in guitar pedagogy. As a tertiary educator and postgraduate supervisor Oliver Fartach-Naini is passionate about student centred learning within a framework that ensures up-to-date industry competence and proficiency. In addition to directing the Elder Conservatorium's classical guitar program Oliver Fartach-Naini is Associate Director of Postgraduate Coursework Programs as well as serving as Co-Coordinator for the Elder Conservatorium's MPhil and PhD programs.

My research portfolio synthesises outcomes from practice-led investigation with academic inquiry in pedagogy, composition, music psychology and musicology. Research outputs include world premiere performances the world over and 11 commercially released albums on Acoustic Music Records, Kreuzberg Records, Deutsche Grammophon, Ethnoclassics and Credia (Universal). My passion for instrumental pedagogy is reflected in my authorship of the current classical guitar syllabus of the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).
