Xin Deng is associate professor in the School of Economics, College of Business and Law. Xin holds a PhD in Economics from Monash University, and a Master and Bachelor degree in Economics from Wuhan University in China.
 
Xin's research sits at the intersection of sustainability, diversity, and labour economics, with a strong focus on gender equality, corporate social responsibility, and the socioeconomic impacts of globalisation. She has an extensive publication record in high‑quality international journals such as Feminist Economics, Applied Economics, Economic Models, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Transport Policy, Transportation Research. She has also contributed to several books and acted as a guest editor for special issues of China Economic Review and Journal of the Air Transport Research Society.  Her work is widely cited and was reported in the media.
 
Xin has been Chief Investigator on several competitive grants funded by national and international organisations, including UN Women, the Australian Government, and private companies. These projects have addressed aviation sustainability, workplace gender equity, corporate sustainability practices, and the labour‑market implications of globalisation. Xin is an active media commentator and has been a regular commentator on finance and management issues for SBS radio's Mandarin program since 2018, and has provided commentary to many media outlets such as ABC, SmartCompany and China Daily.
