Timothy Lathlean
Adelaide Medical School
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.
Dr Lathlean is a post-doctoral research fellow for the Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA) at SAHMRI. His research focus at ROSA is with the MRFF-funded Australian Consortium for Aged Care – Quality Measurement Toolbox (ACAC-QMET): Improving Quality of Care through Better Measurement and Evaluation, examining national and international indicators for the evaluation of quality of care. See https://agedcareconsortium.com.au/.
Tim is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), with over ten years’ experience in research, private practice and community care. He is skilled in the implementation of exercise-based interventions for a range of clinical populations, including aged care. Tim has some managerial experience as the Team Leader for Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology services in a busy community health care centre.
His research to date, has focused on musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and cardiovascular health. He is also interested in precision health, particularly how health literacy interventions as well as biomarkers can be used to monitor and improve health. Tim’s PhD investigated the epidemiology of sports injury in elite junior team sport, identifying links between load and injury, impacted by player wellness (stress, soreness and sleep). He maintains an active interest in this area, supervising higher degree by research students in team collective behaviour, exercise-based interventions for musculoskeletal conditions and the effects of environmental conditions on human physiology and performance. Tim has expertise in project management across observational studies as well as in the implementation of a range of systematic review types (intervention, diagnostic/prognostic and scoping reviews).
ORCID 0000-0001-7340-1567; ResearcherID: X-7938-2019; ScopusAuthorID: 57202568828
Dr Lathlean is currently available for potential HDR projects within the areas of aged care and ageing, exercise physiology, sports performance and neuromuscular health.
