I am interested in palaeoclimatology and palaeoecology, and especially love the combination of earth sciences and biological sciences. I did my Bachelor's and Master's at the university of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. My MSc thesis looked at systems in South-America, the Netherlands and Italy using a combination of different proxies: diatoms, pollen and coprophilous fungal spores.
My research is on (hydro)climate change in south-western Western Australia, which has been experiencing a decline in winter precipitation over the last five decades. To understand how this relates to past variability and how the ecosystem responded to these shifts, I will be using diatoms and environmental DNA to reconstruct past climate and ecological change.
