Dr. Sumin Kim is an emerging academic in Property/Real Estate. He is currently a lecturer at College of Business and Law, Adelaide University and serves as an Associate Director of the Social Enterprise and Inclusion stream of the University's Centre for Markets, Values and Inclusion (CMVI) Leadership Team.
 
Sumin's main research interests lie at the interaction of Sustainable Real Estate, Behavioural Real Estate, and PropTech (Property + Technology). His research works contribute to discussions on dynamics of property/real estate markets and their stakeholders by employing both quantitative and qualitative analytical methods. Most notably, he has conducted several studies on NABERS and Green Star certified "green buildings" in Australia, with particular interests given to their acceptance and performance in the Australian office market. Further, Sumin has produced several housing-focused studies involving policy analysis and review.
 
Prior to joining Adelaide University, Sumin worked at UniSA Business, the University of South Australia as a lecturer. Sumin also worked as a casual academic and sessional lecturer at Faculty of Built Environment, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) where he received his Ph.D.
 
Hitherto, he has received several academic awards including two best paper awards, one best presentation award, one PhD publication award, and one commendation for teaching excellence.

Sumin is specialised in exploring contemporary urban issues of the Australian and Korean property/real estate industry. Specifically, his major research interests include;

  • Tenants' behaviours towards environmentally-sustainable practices and regulatory frameworks
  • Environmental, social, and economic performance of green building
  • Emerging technologies for built environment (e.g., AI, Blockchain, IoT)
  • Housing affordability and policy outcomes
  • Decision-making modelling
