Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Dr Nath completed her Bachelors in 2008 and her Master in Periodontology in the year 2013. She has been actively involved in specialist clinical practice and academic teaching. Her area of expertise is oral epidemiology and public health research. She focuses on identifying the risk factors for periodontal disease and addressing the inequalities in oral health, especially among rural populations and racial and ethnic minority groups. In addition, she conducted various clinical trials on adjunct therapy such as curcumin and fibrin sealants for improving periodontal disease outcomes.
She is currently pursuing Ph.D. in Dentistry at The University of Adelaide and working closely on a novel therapy "Oral microbiome transplants" for the treatment of common oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontal disease. As part of her research project, she would be analyzing and defining the oral microbiome among healthy and diseased patients using recent technologies such as 16S RNA high throughput sequencing and metabolomics. Her work will contribute towards improving oral health among Australians.
She has published various papers in international peer-reviewed journals and is also an active reviewer for many journals across dentistry.
