Abanish is a passionate researcher and academician with expertise in oral epidemiology, dental public health, dental caries and periodontal diseases, nutrition and oral health, oral health inequalities and dental statistics.
 
Born in Nepal, a country in the Himalayas, he completed a professional degree, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), and a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS in Public Health Dentistry) from a reputed university in Nepal, B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS). After his graduation, he worked as a Consultant Dental Surgeon at Narayani Hospital, Government of Nepal, for two years. Thereafter, he worked as a lecturer in M.B. Kedia Dental College and National Medical College for 5 years. He was involved in the teaching and learning activities, guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academics, clinical postings, and research. Furthermore, he was actively involved in patient care, delivering the oral health care services in teaching hospitals, clinics and community oral health programs. He is also a reviewer for various national and international journals (BMC Oral Health, BMC Public Health, Clinical Oral Investigations and so on). In the quest for academic excellence, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Dentistry (Population Oral Health) at Adelaide University as a University of Adelaide Research Scholarship (UARS) candidate. Additionally, he is also awarded with a philanthropically funded scholarship – the “Herbert Gill-Williams Major Research Scholarship in Dentistry”.He has clinical/academic/research experience of more than a decade in the field of oral health, dentistry, population oral health, epidemiology, public health and looks forward to learning, collaborating, and growing further to contribute to the global society.
