In 2021, Melissa completed a Doctor of Philosophy at the Adelaide Nursing School within the University of Adelaide, researching the application of regulatory requirements for internationally qualified health professionals.

Melissa is a registered nurse, former Associate Director with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council and now Senior Policy and Project Officer with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia/Ahpra, who has spent the last 15 years working within and contributing to the development, review and implementation of standards, policy and principles which inform the Australian accreditation and regulatory frameworks for health professionals, particularly nurses and midwives.
