Markus Herderich is the Director of Research at The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI).
He is a Chartered Food Chemist with experience in Regulatory Affairs and holds a Dr (rer nat) and Dr (habil) from the University of Würzburg, Germany.

His research interests focus on aroma chemistry, food chemistry, biological chemistry and natural products chemistry, analytical chemistry and metabolomics, including identification of bioactive natural products and biomarkers and the regulation of secondary metabolism by biotic and environmental factors.
