My research focuses on advanced materials and manufacturing. These materials have applications in optics, semiconductors, mechanical structures, dental restorations, osteoporosis/osteoarthritis studies, and marine/animal sciences. Much of my research involves collaborations with scholars or practitioners in physics, materials science, dentistry, anatomy, orthopedic surgery, tribology, and zoology. I have published some 100 refereed journal papers and 9 book chapters, and produced 2 patents and a dozen industrial project reports. My publications can be viewed at Google Scholar or Scopus . I have also given over 60 conference presentations and 40 industrial consortia and public seminars on four continents.
I am a senior member of the North American Manufacturing Research Institution (NAMRI) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). I am also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Optical Society of America (OSA), American Ceramic Society (Acers), ASM International (ASM), and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
