Senior Medical Research Scientist - Department of Respiratory Medicine, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Kristin Carsons research focuses on helping patients with respiratory illnesses, asthma and smoking. She was named the 2015 Young Australian of the Year for South Australia.
She is currently researching initiatives to curb tobacco use amongst Indigenous populations around the world, with a particular focus on Aboriginal Australians, including investigations into the potential physiological differences that may influence tobacco use. Other projects underway involve, sleep apnoea, asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, inpatient tobacco use, tobacco prevention, lung volume reduction surgery, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, biomarkers and phenotyping.
