Kate completed a Master's degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide. She worked on emerging red grape varieties, profiling their unique phenolic compositions and mouthfeel and astringency subqualities. This work developed Kate's strong interest in wine science and passion for the Australian wine industry. In 2025, Kate returned to the University of Adelaide's School of Agriculture, Food, and Wine as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Associate Professor Susan Bastian and the co-supervision of Associate Professor Cassandra Collins and Dr Cristian Varela, investigating management of vine nutrition and its influence on winemaking.
