Joshua McLean is an artist, tech artist and lecturer at UniSA STEM and UniSA Creative. With a passion for game and 3D art, music, interactive media, and game development, Josh brings a multidisciplinary approach to his work. Josh has extensive industry experience, and his teaching combines technical precision and industry relevance with creative exploration, guiding students to develop both their artistic voice and production-ready skills.
His creative practice spans 3D animation, traditional sculpture, board game design, and music production. He has a strong interest in the design of gameplay systems, especially within tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs), and how mechanics shape player experience.
His research explores the expressive potential of games, with a particular interest in the design and analysis of rulesets for tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs).
