College of Science
I am a Lecturer in the School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences at the University of South Australia (UniSA). I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I lived until 1989 (and again in 1995-97). My PhD was obtained under the supervision of Richard Beals at Yale University, in the United States. I moved to Australia in 2006. I am currently the Program Director for our Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences Program (LBMA), and for our honours program in mathematics (LHMS). I served for three years as Research Degree Coordinator for our School. As well as doing research in mathematics, I am also interested in improving the way mathematics is communicated to students and the public in general. My research interests include partial differential equations, analysis, and probability. My teaching interests include all types of calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, Fourier theory, signal processing, probability, and simulation. I play the recorder, but very poorly. I play chess, and I am a rock-climber.
