Evan Jarrett is a PhD candidate at Adelaide University. Born and raised on Kaurna Yerta, his work focuses on how the genre of climate-fiction (cli-fi) can explore the multitude of impacts that climate change has on places, and all things that exist within them, from the perspective of working-class communities. Evan has a short story titled ‘Green Bay’ published in Green: A Blue Feet Anthology (2022) and has co-authored several articles published in Text and New Writing. He is particularly interested in how people experience changing places, both in terms of environment, and society, and their connections with the more-than-human aspects of place.
Evan's research is interdisciplinary, utilising creative writing and cultural geography methods and methodologies to explore the societal impacts of climate change and the Anthropocene in Australia through fiction. Evan's research focuses on working-class perspectives in particular whilst simultaneously investigating other-than-human interconnections with these issues.
