Dr Bridget Arman is a postdoctoral research fellow currently working within the Women and Kid's Theme at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and also affiliated with the University of Adelaide. Her research at SAHMRI focuses on the nutritional needs of preterm infants, with a particular emphasis on omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and their role in neonatal health and neurodevelopment.
Bridget's expertise spans many aspects of reproductive health including infertility, andrology, reproductive immunology, and pregnancy complications. Bridget is passionate about driving innovation in reproductive health and improving the outcomes for both pregnancies and infants, with a focus on translating research into meaningful clinical applications.
Research History:
Dr Arman received her Bachelor of Health Sciences (Advanced; Majors in Reproductive Health and Biochemistry) at the University of Adelaide. She undertook her Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) at the University of Adelaide where she explored mechanisms linking embryo development and epigenetic changes. She completed her PhD within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health at the University of Melbourne, where her research investigated new therapeutics for the prevention of preterm birth.
Beyond her research interests in women's health and pregnancy, Bridget also has expertise in male fertility research. Her work within the Reproductive Immunology Group at the Robinson Research Institute (University of Adelaide) investigated the immunomodulatory factors in seminal plasma and their impact on fertility. Additionally, she contributed to work within the Male Reproductive Life Course Group focused on characterising the role of sperm microRNAs in developmental programming. She further explored the therapeutic potential of alternative compounds in improving sperm motility.
