Dr Arthur Saniotis
School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences
College of Health
Interdisciplinary researcher working across neuroscience, clinical anatomy, evolutionary medicine, medical anthropology, public health, bioethics and bioastronautics. My research examines brain function and evolution, human adaptation and health, altered states of consciousness, emerging biomedical technologies, climate and health, and the biological and ethical challenges of long-duration spaceflight. My work integrates biological, medical and anthropological perspectives to investigate human health, behaviour and adaptation in changing environments.
My research is interdisciplinary, spanning neuroscience, clinical anatomy, evolutionary medicine, medical anthropology, public health, bioethics and bioastronautics. My work examines neurohormonal regulation, cognition and brain evolution; human adaptation and evolutionary health; altered states of consciousness and embodiment; emerging biomedical technologies and human enhancement; climate and health; and the biological and ethical challenges of long-duration spaceflight. I also investigate the relationships between human biology, culture, medicine and future technological change.
