Welcome to my webpage. I am a senior lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of South Australia. I coordinate and teach in the Research Methodolgies course in the Bachelor of Nursing, and I coordinate and teach the postgraduate Cardiovascular Nursing courses.
I work one day a week as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Acute Cardiac Assessment at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide. I have worked in cardiac nursing since 1987.
My research interest is Takotsubo Syndrome. I am the co-administrator of the Takotsubo Support Group (TSG). The TSG is a closed group on Facebook for people with Takotsubo syndrome.
I received a grant from the Rosemary Bryant AO Research Foundation to develop a website for Takotsubo Syndrome to foster engagement and collaboration between researchers, health professionals and people with Takotsubo Syndrome with the aim of working toward an evidence base for management of Takotsubo syndrome and promoting better patient-centred care. The website will also include information about Takotsubo for health professionals, people with Takotsubo and the general community I am working with a team of international collaborators that includes clinical experts and people with Takotsubo Syndrome on this project, collectively known as the 'Takotsubo Network'.
The website was launched on the 5th April 2019 and the URL is https://www.takotsubo.net.
Recipient of an inaugural seeding grant from the Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre for the 'Shared knowledge to promote patient-centred care for people with Takotsubo syndrome' project. The project is an international collaboration between expert researchers and clinicians in the field of Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) and members of the Takotsubo Support Group people who have experienced Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), collectively known as the 'Takotsubo Network'. Key deliverables of this project are:
- provision of a web-based platform for accessible education and support that meets the needs of people with TTS, health professionals , researchers, and the general public;
- international engagement between researchers, health professionals and people with TTS; and
- research data that reflects authentic experiences of people with TTS that can be accessed by TTS researchers to generate evidence leading to best practice and patient-centred care.
The Takotsubo network is scheduled to 'go live' on the 5th April 2019 at https://www.takotsubo.net.
