Dr Angela Berndt is teaching and research academic in Allied health & Human Performance and Program Director of Occupational Therapy Programs, who brings more than three decades of experience to her roles.  The recipient of four teaching awards, she uses the ethos of partnership, participation and collaboration (doing together and learning from each other) in her interactions with students and other education offerings. 
Angela's doctoral research was a person-environment-occupation (PEO) analysis of the relationship between dementia and driving, with particular emphasis on the occupational therapy assessment of on-road driving performance.  She is the author of a number of publications and a regular presenter at national and international conferences.
Angela developed Australia's first integrated online / face to face intensive driver assessment and rehabilitation course for postgraduate occupational therapists in 2003. She is a member of the occupational therapy driver interest group and Occupational Therapy Australia driver task force, who are called on regularly to contribute to national policy and guideline development.
Angela is often engaged as a partner in industry based projects and research, with a focus on community mobility, driving and the needs of people with dementia or older adults.  More recently she has also partnered in health service and continuing professional development projects that utilise her knowledge of clinical reasoning and teaching methodologies in applications for advanced practitioners.
Angela was the research area team leader for consumer engagement in the International Centre for Allied Health Evidence (iCAHE), is  past President of the Board of Directors for Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) and a Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
