Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.

Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann is passionate about making a difference to cancer patients’ lives. She uses proteomics to analyse patient-derived samples with the long-term goal to assists clinicians in their therapy decisions. She is an experienced cell biologist and biochemist with a background in biophysics and the recipient of multiple fellowships and awards, such as the 2020 Winnovation award in the Science category.
Since joining the University of South Australia in 2017, she is leading a small and dedicated team working on translational research projects in collaboration with multiple industry partners. In addition, she leads multidisciplinary teams, which develop disruptive laboratory solutions for personalised medicine and novel sample preparation for mass spectrometry.
Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann is passionate about gender equity and was a member of the University of South Australia self-assessment team for SAGE (http://u.unisa.edu.au/about/sage-pilot).
After finishing her PhD in 1999 at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, Germany, she has been awarded a prestigious DFG (German Research Foundation) fellowship to work at Monash University in Melbourne. After her time at Monash University, she has been working part time in several laboratories around the world and had several career interruptions. In 2016 she was the recipient of a Barbara Kidman Fellowship, which aims to enhance and promote the career of female academics. She has co-supervised more than a dozen Honour’s students and PhD students and numerous vacation scholarship students; with multiple winning internal and external awards, such as the University medal for best the PhD thesis in Biological Sciences.
