My research aims to elucidate the three root branching patterns—hydrotropism, hydropatterning, and xerobranching—that plants use to develop and branch roots preferentially toward moisture. I'm currently using a xerobranching pattern controlled by the radial movement of abscisic acid in barley to characterize water sensing during drought stress.
