My group examines how global change is affecting ecosystem processes. Our research focuses on how meteorological extremes affect the vegetation of Australia and the tropics. I am particularly interested in the usage of Earth Observation (remote sensing) to examine processes in ecophysiology and ecosystem ecology.
I am happy to discuss potential Honours and Postgraduate research projects on anything vegetation and global change related. In particular, I have projects available on the following topics:
- The impacts of increasing atmospheric aridity on vegetation
- The interplay of photosynthesis and plant water use in response to warming and CO2
- Eucalypt forest recovery from bushfires
- Remote sensing of seagrass dynamics in response to coastal turbidity
- Remote sensing for identifying the impact of rangeland conservation management
My research tends to utilize:
- Earth observation and remote sensing
- climate data
- statistical modeling
- machine learning
