My group examines how global change is affecting ecosystem processes. My research focuses on how meteorological extremes affect the vegetation of Australia and the tropics. I am particularly interested in the usage of Earth Observation (remote sensing) to examine processes in ecophysiology and ecosystem ecology.

I am happy to discuss potential Honours and Postgraduate research projects on anything vegetation and global change related. In particular, I have projects available on the following topics:

  • The impacts of increasing atmospheric aridity on vegetation
  • The interplay of photosynthesis and plant water use in response to warming and CO2
  • Eucalypt forest recovery from bushfires
  • Remote sensing of seagrass dynamics in response to coastal turbidity
  • Remote sensing for identifying the impact of rangeland conservation management

My research tends to utilize:

  • Earth observation and remote sensing
  • climate data
  • statistical modeling
  • machine learning
