I completed my PhD in cancer research at the University Adelaide in 2004, where I identified a new receptor target for the novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor, imatinib. These key findings were patented by Novartis Pharmaceuticals. I transitioned into Medical Education at the University of Adelaide in 2011 as a case based learning tutor, before becoming an academic in the Adelaide Medical School in 2016.   I am Program Director for the Bachelor of Medical Studies, which transitions into the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, and am Course Coordinator for Medical Studies 1 (year 1).   I have played a significant role in curriculum development for the new Bachelor of Medical Studies/MD program, with a significant interest in feedback processes and active learning opportunities.

I enjoy teaching in scenario based learning (flipped classroom) which supports students to develop deeper learning through application of knowledge to clinically relevant scenarios.  I also lead delivery of  Early Clinical Interactions, where patients speak to students about their experience of living with disease, and the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) highlight the critical role they play in the patient journey. As Program Director, I also provide significant support to students across the Bachelor of Medical Studies program. I am an active member of the Adelaide Education Academy to further develop and support my teaching practices, and to support other academics across the University.
