Dr. Nam Nghiep Tran is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of Adelaide, where he also serves as Associate Dean of Internationalisation (Southeast Asia) within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology (SET). His role focuses on fostering academic collaborations and student engagement between Australia and Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam.

Originally from Can Tho City in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, Dr. Tran completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering at Can Tho University before pursuing a Master of Engineering in Chemical System Engineering at The University of Tokyo (Japan) under the Panasonic Scholarship. He later undertook a Ph.D. at The University of Adelaide through the Australian Awards Scholarship.

Beyond his academic and research activities, Dr. Tran has been involved in community engagement and student support initiatives. He co-founded the Adelaide University Vietnamese Students Association (AVA), which provides a network for Vietnamese students in Adelaide. He is also the Chapter President of the Vietnam – Australia Scholars & Experts Association (VASEA) in South Australia, contributing to professional and academic connections between Australia and Vietnam.

Dr. Tran is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of Green Processing and Synthesis (GREENPs), and his research interests include process control and instrumentation, process design and optimisation, renewable energy, reaction engineering, thermal and non-thermal plasma technologies, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and life cycle assessment. His work supports collaborative research efforts and the advancement of sustainable technologies.
