Commenced training as a Registered Nurse in August 1986 at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a student nurse. Completed three year program in 1889 and then continued to work at TQEH as a Registered Nurse until 1993. During this time I completed my Graduate Certificate of Perioperative Nursing in 1991 with the primary focus being Trauma and Emergency Theatres.

I travelled throughout Australia in the early part of my nursing career and had the opportunity to work in a large number of health settings ranging from isolated rural clinics to large metro hospitals. Throughout my career I have continued to study achieving a Graduate Diploma in Nursing Management in 1999 and a Bachelor of Education in 2004, after which I worked in a large private hospital as a Perioperative Educator for eight years. During this time I completed my Masters of Perioperative Nursing.

I commenced working as a Clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide in 2013. I completed a Graduate Certificate of Online Education in 2015. I am currently the Speciality Course Coordinator for the Graduate Diploma of Anaesthetics and Recovery Nursing and Infection Control Nursing and the undergraduate Course Coordinator for Professional and Ethical Nursing Practice Considerations and Nursing Older People.

2023 - A co-investigator within a team who successfully applied for a grant from the Adelaide Nursing School Grant Scheme of $10,000 to explore the journey and understand the experiences of First Nations students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate studies with the Adelaide Nursing School.

2023 - A co-investigator within a team sponsored by Northern Adelaide Local Health Network to explore the Mental Health Co-Responder Project - a joint collaboration between NALHN and SAPOL, with an aim to describe the model of mental health nursing utilised.

2012 - Applied for a grant from the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care for $10534 to enable the development and evaluation of pre-printed sterile labels suitable to be utilised within sterile fields to identify fluids in areas such as the operating theatre or during sterile anaesthetic procedures where fluids and medications would be decanted from their original container into other vessels to comply with the National Standard for Injectable Medicines, Fluids and Lines.
