Dr Elizabeth Kuczek

Research Manager

Adelaide Medical School

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Dr Kuczek completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide, and undertook postdoctoral research in molecular immunology (signal transduction and transcriptional regulation of cytokines and T cell surface receptors) at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (Adelaide), the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the Gladstone Institute for Virology and Immunology, San Francisco.

Outside of her academic research work, Dr Kuczek has a strong background in project and operations management. She has been responsible for the administrative management of large scale multi-institutional national and international projects, including in the area of hormone dependent cancers – a $5million NBCF (National Breast Cancer Foundation) national collaborative research program, and a Movember-NBCF collaborative linkage project. In 1997 she was instrumental in the establishment of the AGRF (Australian Genome Research Facility) in Brisbane, where for 10 years she managed the DNA sequencing services, and the wallaby genome project (at that time the largest genome to be sequenced in Australia), as well as general operations across the three AGRF nodes in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. Dr Kuczek’s multi-institutional project and stakeholder management was central to her space analyst role with the Go8 (Group of Eight) Facilities Directors group between 2013-2016.

As a community member of the consumer advisory group for PC4/PoCoG (Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group and Psycho-oncology Co-operative Research Group) she has maintained her interest in the translation of research into primary cancer care.
