Yulia received her bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education with a thesis on the relationship between mathematics teachers' mastery and students' achievement. When she completed her master's degree in education, she expanded her research focus to include pre-service mathematics teachers' TPACK for teaching with ICT. Later, she was a lecturer at the Primary School Teachers Education Department, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia, for over five years. During her academic career, she conducted studies on primary school students' attitudes towards mathematics and developed an item pool book for primary numeracy tests.
Driven by her education and experiences, her research interests are mathematics and numeracy curriculum and pedagogy, primary school mathematics, education assessment and evaluation, and quantitative research. Furthermore, she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Education at the University of Adelaide. Her research, supported by the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship, investigates factors influencing primary school students' numeracy performance.
