Yonatal is a PhD candidate at Adelaide Exposure Science and Health. His research project is entitled "Occupational exposure to pesticides in greenhouses: A comprehensive look at modifiable work environment, physicochemical and formulation factors to minimize dermal exposure to organophosphates" His project aims at understanding how work environment factors, such as temperature in greenhouses, and pesticide properties such as formulation components modify exposure to toxic pesticides with particular focus on assessing skin exposure and evaluating protection afforded by chemical resistant gloves under various exposure scenarios and work environment conditions.

Yonatal's PhD project focuses on the risk of pesticide exposure in the agriculture sector, with particular emphasis on  understanding the pesticide handling practice within the flower industry context under greenhouse work conditions. His Project will be informed by a mixture of desk based review, lab based experimentation and field measurements under real world exposure scenario.
