Dr Yao’s research focuses on strategy and entrepreneurship in family firms, with a particular interest in how these firms respond to external disruptions. Her work examines the role of family involvement and dynamic capabilities in shaping innovation, resilience, and strategic renewal, often within an international business context. She completed her PhD in Business and Management at the University of Adelaide in 2025.
