Wahid Murad is a senior lecturer at UniSA Education Futures, where he teaches and coordinates courses in data literacy, economics, and personal finance. His research spans environmental economics, climate change management, and student motivation and academic success in enabling education. Wahid has led multiple funded research projects and collaborated with scholars from 22 institutions across 17 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam.
An accomplished economist with over 22 years of experience in higher education, Wahid brings expertise in research leadership, data analytics, policy design, and strategic knowledge management. His research aligns with 16 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), generating impactful insights that inform policy and appear in high-impact international journals. Fluent in English, Bengali, and Malay, Wahid is widely recognised for his contributions to socioeconomic development and environmental sustainability, particularly in areas addressing poverty reduction and climate resilience.
Wahid’s scholarly impact includes over 3,700 citations (Google Scholar, Scopus, or Web of Science), with an h-index of 24 and an i10-index of 50. He serves as deputy editor of the International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management and as an academic editor for PLOS Climate.
His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Environment and Development, Waste Management and Research, Journal of Public Health Policy, Environmental Progress and Sustainable Energy, Renewable Energy, Ecological Indicators, International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, International Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development, International Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development, Management of Environmental Quality, Journal of Environmental Health, Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences, and the American Journal of Environmental Sciences, among others.
Wahid’s research has also informed policy development at national and international levels. His work has been cited in:

A proven academic leader, Wahid has demonstrated sustained educational leadership across universities in Australia and Malaysia through course coordination, curriculum design, HDR supervision, mentoring, and academic governance.
