Dr. Viviane De Menezes Caceres is a Lecturer in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy in the Allied Health and Human Performance Unit at the University of South Australia. She has dedicated a significant portion of her career to building capacity and fostering collaboration between industry, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. With a strong focus on the cardiorespiratory field, she inspires students to pursue academic and personal excellence, contributing to improved patient outcomes by merging teaching, research, and clinical expertise.
As an academic physiotherapist, Viviane has an exceptional track record of research success, with broad interests in molecular cardiology, cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, and population studies. These interests have enabled her to conduct cross-disciplinary translational research. She has experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in both research and clinical placements. Her long-term goal is to continue performing multidisciplinary translational research projects in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, with an emphasis on physical activity and its influence on cardiovascular biomarkers and pathways in older adults.
Before moving to Australia, Viviane worked for six years in Brazil as a Senior Lecturer, where she was responsible for the development, coordination, and teaching of five separate courses covering foundational medical sciences and preclinical skills. She has demonstrated exceptional skills in education, mentoring, and teaching in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, she mantains clinical practice at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, providing care to patients in the tertiary sector.
