Professor Tim Green
Affiliate Professor Discipline of Paediatrics and Reproductive Health, School of Medicine, The University of Adelaide.
Qualifications: BSc, MSc, PhD

Tim Green joined the SAHMRI Healthy Mothers, Babies and Children theme in January 2016. Previously he was a Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of British Columbia, Canada - Department of Food Nutrition, Faculty of Land and Food Systems and Health and the Child and Family Research Institute.
Prior to that, Tim spent eight years as a lecturer in human nutrition at the University of Otago in New Zealand and was involved with the WHO Collaborating Centre for Human Nutition. Within the past five years, Tim has had funding from The Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Global Affairs Canada, International Development Research Council, Grand Challenges Canada, The Micronutrient Initiative, and Harvest Plus.
His research focuses on micronutrients in pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, lactation, and early life (first 1000 days) with studies conducted in Canada, NZ, Asia and Africa. His group seeks to: identify micronutrient deficiencies through nutrition surveys; better define micronutrient requirements and pregnancy outcomes in these groups through RCTs; and develop sustainable strategies to improve micronutrient status.
