I completed my PhD in May 2021 from the School of Medicine and Public Health, the University of Newcastle. I also trained a BSc in Public Health (2011) and Masters in Reproductive Health (2014) in Ethiopia.
My broad research interests include population health research, big data analyses, cancer outcomes and survivourship research, and measuring health disparities.

I led the development of a patient-focused resource called the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Report Card, a freely available online resource designed for patients and healthcare professionals. It addresses the complexity of prostate cancer treatment information and allows patients to weigh trade-offs and choose the treatment option that best suits their individual needs and preferences. The Report Card also promotes shared decision-making between patients and healthcare professionals. It has received significant media attention, including my interview on Channel 9 News.

Another of my work on medication and service use patterns for mental health issues among prostate cancer patients, published in Psycho-Oncology (Altmetric score of 225), has been widely recognised by men’s health organisations and RACGP. It underscores the need for upfront mental health supports for men with prostate cancer.
