Tamika Roach-Attard is a dedicated UniSA professional with a background in psychology and counselling, career education, and primary school teaching. With a passion for working with disadvantaged school students, she serves as an Outreach Officer at UniSA Outreach for Schools, specialising in career development. Her work focuses on pre-access equity by developing partnerships with low-SES schools to provide school students with hands-on experiences to improve their awareness about career education, self-efficacy and agency.
In her role, Tamika manages and coordinates the UniSA Careers Compass Year 6 and Careers Compass Year 10 programs, which are designed to align with the ACARA V9 General Capabilities, Australian Blueprint for Career Development, and SACE Exploring Identities and Futures subject. These programs are delivered to various low-SES metropolitan South Australian primary and secondary schools.
Tamika's responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, and training domestic and international undergraduate and postgraduate UniSA primary and secondary pre-service teachers in the Careers Compass programs. This guidance supports them in participating in and facilitating the programs while they gain additional educational experience and teaching confidence in school settings.
Tamika is also an approved Psychology Placement supervisor for third-year Psychology students undertaking their 150-hour field placement. She is dedicated to coaching and mentoring psychology placement students in applying their psychological knowledge and skills in a workplace and school setting.
