Dr Suzanne Gardner has broad research interests which include
1. addressing the oral health needs of disadvantaged populations. These groups include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, rural and remote populations, residents in aged care facilities, people suffering mental, physical or cognitive impairment and other marginalised groups such as the homeless and incarcerated.
2. supervising the delivery of educational activities, oral health screens and appropriate referrals to permanent residents of a domestic violence shelter. This is expected to be ongoing but also expanding the reach to other domestic violence sufferers in temporary accommodation is planned.
3.gathering data from Bachelor of Oral Health students since 2002 to 2018 and has published profiles of the cohorts, their career intentions upon graduation and factors associated with selection criteria and achievement levels in the program.
4. monitoring career motivation and influencing factors affecting career choice of dental and oral health students is an ongoing interest.
5. recently collaborated on a project involving enhancing students learning of dental anatomy using the flipped classroom model of student learning.
