Stewart Ramsay is an emerging leader in the field of sensory neurons, particularly those that innervate visceral organs. He has a keen interest in how these sensory neurons change their sensitivity according to time of day, and their interactions with various endogenous signalling molecules such as vanilloids, cannabinoids, and coriticosterone.
Stewart has previously focused on the role of endogenous hormones in regulating visceral afferents in relation to appetite and pain. Currently, he focuses on forming better outcomes for patients with septic shock, researching into the time course of septic shock and determining appropriate treatment regime with corticosteroid binding globulin.
