Dr. Soumya is a trainee of Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners and would like to progress her career in academic GP and evidence-based medicine. She has broad clinical experience in the investigation and management of patients in the community as well as the hospital.
She has maintained a research profile for the past decade with experience in indigenous ear health research, paediatric tonsillectomy, and adenoidectomy, and formal training in systematic review methods completing a Masters of Clinical Science thesis on the topic, “Accuracy of core needle biopsy compared to fine needle biopsy for the diagnosis of neoplasm in patients with suspected head and neck cancers: A systematic review and meta-analysis”. Her recent job as a Research Fellow has enabled her to critically appraise, interpret and apply the latest evidence available pertaining to clinical practice and inspired her to undertake an Academic Post in 2022.
She looks forward to commencing a Ph.D. at the University of Adelaide with the aim to improve the outcomes for her patients by being actively involved in research and contributing to the evidence base as well as evidence implementation for general practitioners.
