Dr Solmaz Kahourzade
Lecturer, Electrical Engineering
School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
College of Engineering and Information Technology
Research Interests
I am interested in research areas where energy conversion and transmission play a major role, such as hybrid power networks, renewable energy systems, transmission and distribution networks, electrical machines and drives as well as numerical methods in electrical engineering. In particular, I carry out the research in the area of electrical machines and power electronics for applications such as renewable energy, electric traction systems and electrical drives for industrial applications. It includes the electrical machines and drives optimization (using genetic and particle swarm algorithms) based on the analytical models and finite-element simulation.
I conduct research, student supervision, teaching, course development, and consultancy work in the following areas: Electrical Machines and Energy Conversion, Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, Energy Storage and Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy Systems, Power System Analysis, Distributed Generation, Motion Control Systems.
