Shylie is an adjunct Professor at UniSA, after many years as an academic in Allied Health. Her research expertise lies broadly with the prevention of falls in older people, rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions and clinical biomechanics. She is interested in both primary research investigating interventions as well as how to translate research evidence into practice. Her background is in Physiotherapy with her teaching mostly related to adult rehabilitation and research methods.

Shylie has an ongoing interest in falls prevention with older people and particularly falls prevention with people who have suffered a stroke. She has been in involved in clinical trials, development and validation of outcome tools, systematic reviews of the literature, and research degrees supervision in this area. She also has an interested in the benefits of therapeutic exericse for older people and people with acquired brain injury.
