Teaching Strengths
Ms Sheree Agett
Lecturer, Midwifery
School of Nursing and Midwifery
College of Health
Sheree is a Lecturer in Midwifery at Adelaide University, where she facilitates teaching and clinical workshops across regional South Australia. Her work is centred on educating and supporting students from regional, rural and remote communities, recognising the critical role of locally educated midwives in sustaining a skilled and responsive maternity workforce outside metropolitan areas. Her academic and professional interests encompass maternal and newborn health, midwifery continuity of care, rural and remote healthcare and the translation of evidence into clinical practice.
Originally educated as a registered nurse, Sheree completed a Bachelor of Nursing before undertaking a Master of Midwifery while working within a range of maternity settings throughout Australia. These experiences informed a broad understanding of maternity service delivery and the diverse needs of women, families and communities.
Sheree's career has spanned clinical practice, research, education and health service innovation, including contributions to research focused on maternal health across the perinatal continuum. Clinically, she has worked within continuity of midwifery care models for more than a decade and has contributed to their implementation and ongoing development in a variety of clinical contexts.
Prior to joining Adelaide University, Sheree contributed as a consultant to the clinical design and implementation of the maternity and neonatal components of the Electronic Medical Record program. She worked collaboratively with clinicians, health services and digital health teams to support the delivery of integrated, contemporary maternity and neonatal care.
Through her teaching, she contributes to the preparation of the future midwifery workforce and advocates for educational pathways that enable students to remain connected to their local communities. Her work reflects a commitment to strengthening a locally educated midwifery workforce across country South Australia.
