Hello! Welcome to my home page. I am an early career researcher with experience coordinating multiple large, human-based dietary interventions, collaborating with food industry, lecturing and tutoring, as well as mentoring and supervising HDR students. I am also an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over ten years of consulting experience in chronic disease management and healthy aging.
I completed my PhD at the University of South Australia investigating the effects of intermittent compared to continuous energy restriction in people with type 2 diabetes. My work in this area was the first of its kind and lead to the development of the first medication protocol for the safe use of intermittent fasting in people with type 2 diabetes.
Currently, I am working as a post-doctoral research fellow in Allied Health & Human Performance, where I am investigating the effects of snacking on almonds for weight loss and weight loss maintenance, delving into the mechanisms of appetite control. In addition, I am exploring how eggs impact cholesterol and their relationship to cardiovascular disease risk, Australia’s leading cause of disease burden and death.
I also have tutored for subjects including Human Nutrition (internal and online), Foundations of Nutrition and Health (online) and Nutrition and Exercise (internal). I am currently co-supervising two Masters students. I have supervised three Honours students to completion (received First Class) and numerous undergraduate placement students.
