Dr Sev Nagalingam Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at the UniSA Business academic unit. As a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management, Dr Nagalingam conducts research and teach both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He formerly held positions in UniSA-STEM, Air Lanka Ltd, Sri Lanka and Faculty of Engineering at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka.
Dr Sev Nagalingam received his PhD from the University of South Australia and proposed a novel way of justifying investments in advanced manufacturing technologies in 1999. He holds Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, which he earned in 1990. His current research interests are: Sustainable supply chain, Supply chain management, Technology management, Operations management and Collaborative systems. He is currently exploring operational and managerial issues that are associated with collaborative and sustainable supply chains.
He has published over 70 peer reviewed international research papers, a book on CIM, two book chapters, and a booklet to date. In 2000, Dr Nagalingam obtained an ARC small grant entitled “Development of an Integrated Architecture for Virtual Computer Integrated Manufacturing” to develop a framework for Virtual Computer Integrated Management (VCIM) using the Internet as the communication medium. In 2003, he obtained ARC linkage grant entitled “Development of a Global Decision Support System towards Virtual Manufacturing”. Further, he has received many internal competitive grants.
Due to his pioneering research on VCIM systems, he was invited as a steering committee member [an international committee of invited experts among SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) members] for reinventing SME/CASA Manufacturing Enterprise Model during 2003-04. This activity was sponsored under the auspices of SME's Manufacturing Enterprise Council and the Product, Process, Design, and Management Technical Community. He was a Senior Member of SME, USA up to 2022.
Dr Nagalingam currently holds MCIPS from the Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply Australia. He was a Guest Editor for two special issues of the International Journal of Robotic and Computer Integrated Manufacturing that were published in 2003 and 2007, and for International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (June 2007). Further, he had been an Editor for Proceedings of conferences and organising committee member of a few Conferences as well. He has been invited as a reviewer for several journal articles by the journal editors - International Journal of Production research, Journal of Engineering Manufacture, International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing and International Journal of Business Performance Management.
