Sebastian Blake is a Graduate Researcher in Applied Linguistics at Adelaide University in the School of Society and Culture. Their research focuses on adult literacy mediation in Australia, with particular attention to how literacy mediators carry out their work on the ground in everyday, informal, real-world contexts. Sebastian holds a Diploma in Arts Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of South Australia and has published in the Australian Review of Applied Linguistics (2025). They have presented their research at the Australian Council for Adult Literacy (ACAL) National Conference (2025; Literacies for a Dynamic Future: Inclusion, Empowerment, Employment), at a seminar hosted by the UniSA Research Centre for Languages and Cultures (2022), and in an ACAL webinar (2024). Alongside their research, Sebastian also teaches critical thinking and sociology at the Adelaide University Pathways College.
