Dr Sean Martin

FAMAS Project Manager - Freemason Foundation

Adelaide Medical School

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Dr. Sean Martin is an epidemiologist and current NHMRC Fellow & Research Lead of the Urological Research Group within the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health (University of Adelaide).

In 2018-19 he completed a Fulbright scholarship in Boston with the New England Research Institutes (NERI), in collaboration with researchers and clinicians from Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Martin completed his PhD on modifiable predictors of sexual and urinary dysfunction and has published on a broad range of topics related to men's health. Prior to his academic career he served as a project manager for a large prospective cohort study of middle aged to elderly men from Adelaide, Australia.

Dr. Martin has a range of collaborators and projects suitable for students at all levels. Any interested collaborators or students should get in touch by email.

My principal research interests centre on novel approaches to highlight & explore the connections between urological disorders and other chronic diseases. Currently this is focused across three broad research themes: lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and i) cardio-metabolic disease; ii) mental health; and iii) health service usage.

I have always worked productively with a range of researchers and clinicians from a variety of disciplines. Currently this includes collaborators from public health, clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, urology, surgery, sleep medicine, psychology, general medicine, and electrical engineering. Our group regularly engages with industry, and has a strong focus on producing end products that are readily translatable across the medical field.
