Mrs Samyuktha Narasimhan
Higher Degree by Research Candidate
School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences
College of Science
Samyuktha is a first-year PhD candidate at the Future Industries Institute on the Mawson Lakes campus, supported by the Adelaide University Research Scholarship (AURS).
Through her PhD she will be focus on upcycling waste materials into novel carbon materials such as activated carbon for the remediation of emerging contaminants. By utilizing waste materials such as plastic and pine sawdust, she will innovate a new strategy for waste management that may be used to immobilize per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from a variety of environmental matrices such as soil and water. This research will not only address the highly tangible problem of tackling waste plastic but will also contribute towards cleaning up the environment and provide one more tool for us to achieve a greener transition.
Samyuktha is open to connect and collaborating with researchers and professional working in remediation, novel material synthesis and POPs.
