Sabrina Günsche (Guensche) is a PhD Candidate in the School of Public Health at Adelaide University.
Her PhD research focuses on environmental epidemiology and the health impacts of extreme heat, with a particular focus on older populations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Fulda University of Applied Sciences and a Master of Science in Health Sciences from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
Before commencing her PhD, Sabrina gained experience in public health research, epidemiology, infectious disease surveillance, pandemic management, and clinical research. Her academic and research experience includes work in Germany, the United States, and Australia, including teaching in public health and research methods.
Her PhD project investigates how extreme heat and heatwaves are associated with mortality, morbidity, and healthcare burden among older Australians. This work aims to identify vulnerable populations and geographic areas, and to inform targeted public health adaptation strategies.
