Dr. Sarah Howson is an early-career clinician-researcher currently working as an Intensive Care Registrar at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She holds a Doctor of Medicine from Flinders University and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Adelaide, with a triple major in Anatomical Sciences, Pathology, and Neuroscience.
She is currently undertaking a PhD at Adelaide University focussed on subarachnoid haemorrhage, delayed cerebral ischaemia and novel neuroprotective therapies.
I am an early-career clinician-researcher and Intensive Care registrar at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, currently undertaking a PhD focusing on aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, delayed cerebral ischaemia and novel neuroprotective therapies. My research spans neurocritical care, health services and optimisation, and the use and integration of electronic medical record data into existing and novel healthcare delivery.
Current research interests include:
- Aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage and delayed cerebral ischaemia
- Vitamin C (ascorbate) and neuroprotective therapies in neurocritical care
- Translational models of neurocritical illness
- Critical care quality improvement, patient flow optimisation, healthcare systems research
