I am a soil scientist with broad interests spanning nutrient cycling, crop fertilisation, soil use and management, farming systems, and agronomy. I joined the Future Industries Institute at the University of South Australia in October 2024, having previously worked at The University of Adelaide and CSIRO Agriculture & Food.
My research experience is strongly grounded in fertiliser technology. I have conducted laboratory, glasshouse, and field-based experiments aimed at developing more effective and environmentally responsible fertiliser formulations. Much of this work has focused on designing and evaluating novel fertiliser formulations, often supported by advanced isotopic and spectroscopic techniques to understand nutrient transformations and release pathways.
Through collaborative research, I have established strong links with farming systems groups, government agencies, universities, research organisations, industry partners, agronomists, and consultants across southern Australia. I recently led research streams within major GRDC investments, including:

Sandy Soils, a multi-season, geographically dispersed project improving crop performance on underperforming sandy soils across the southern region. My primary contribution involved characterising and addressing physical constraints to root growth.
Farming Systems South, a project investigating the drivers of profitability and sustainability in southern farming systems. I managed agronomy activities across nine long-term field trials in Victoria and South Australia, supporting farming systems groups in evaluating more than 300 treatments over multiple seasons.

Before relocating to Australia, I completed postgraduate training in Soils and Plant Nutrition at the University of São Paulo (Brazil). My research was conducted in collaboration with the Mato Grosso Research Foundation and the Centre for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture, and included a doctoral ‘sandwich’ program at Kansas State University (USA). I hold an Agronomic Engineering degree from São Paulo State University, where I received merit-based scholarships to undertake three years of undergraduate research.
I am based at UniSA’s Future Industries Institute, Mawson Lakes Campus.
