My research investigates the external and internal elements of the specific musical genre that came out of Adelaide during the 1970s. It documents and analyses the significant historical factors that spawned the development of Hard Rock Music. This research will contribute to the knowledge of Adelaide’s significant contribution of high-quality musical acts disproportionate to the numbers in its population.The auto ethnographical journey of a life lived through the lens of a practicing Rock drummer in Australia and documenting the influences of socio-economic factors during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Through self-reflection and personal interviews, the framework was inspired by renowned ethnomusicologists Christopher Small, Robert Walser and Harris Berger's scholarly literature. Through educational and musical pedagogy that underpins this study, the conclusion documents the significance of South Australia's contribution to a specific genre and sub-culture of a life changing style of popular music.
